Spring Hill Chargers

07/03/2013 - Chargers break out of hitting slump

Roscoe-The Spring Hill Chargers pulled back to the .500 mark with a 7-2 win Sunday. The win kept the 5-5 Chargers in the hunt for a first place finish in the SCL-North with three games left. Currently New Munich, (7-2) with four games left, Elrosa (8-3) with three games left, and Meire Grove (7-4) with three games left ranks above Spring Hill. Those three are guaranteed to be in the playoffs. One more win by Spring Hill or one loss by Greenwald would lock up a playoff spot for Spring Hill

For the first time in a few games the Chargers hit the ball well and hit often finishing with 15 hits Sunday, June 30.

“We went up to the ball diamond at 11 a.m., talked about how people were over swinging and pulling their heads,” said manager Randy Schoenberg. “Everybody kept their heads down today. We didn’t hit deep, but had line shots.” Jamie Terres was particularly effective with three hits, including a double. Corey Schoenberg had a triple in his two hits and winning pitcher Brent Terres also doubled. “When there was a chance to take an extra base they took it,” said Schoenberg. “When the hitting is not there you try to get an extra base.” Brent Terres earned the win for Spring Hill pitching the first five innings. The defense played well behind him and relief pitchers Brad Terres and Corey Schoenberg.
