Spring Hill Chargers

05/24/2012 - Chargers Grind Out Early Season Wins

The Spring Hill Chargers are off to a hot start in the 2012 Amateur Baseball Season.  Some would call it a streak of Latino heat.  The Chargers are boasting a 6-1 season record suffering their only defeat to Belle Plaine.  4-0 in the SCL, 6-1 overall and 1-0 in chew tin flips, the Lightning bolts have kept the momentum from their trip to the state tournament.

The Chargers very own Louie Opatz has been able to grind out 4 wins on the season looking better in each outing.  The only thing that hasn’t improved is Opatz's sense of style.  Ryan Spanier on the other hand has managed to maintain his priorities of the season, keeping his hat and new cleats clean.  Brent Terres has been eating up some innings for the men in maroon but has only been able to go deep enough in one game to earn a victory.

The Chargers are happy to welcome their young talent back from their stints with college baseball.  They are also glad that none of them ended up in the Stearns County Penal System.  Eric Terres, the man of man names, has been battling through addiction causing bloody noses and ugly cleats to help the Chargers battle out some early season wins.

Season leaders for the lightning bolts offensively are Nathan Terres in awkward sweat marks and Joe Welle in cash flow.  Corey Schoenberg leads the team with 2 homers and creepiest facial hair.  Shawn Schoenberg leads the Chargers in saves (3), runs (9), and stolen bases (3).  Travis Welle leads the team in all speaking categories and has really been able to get under the skin of opposing teams.  He will also likely lead the team in bales of hay thrown throughout the season.  The only thing more offensive than the Chargers’ offense is Charger pitching lead by “Grinder” Louie Opatz.  Opatz leads the team with twenty-one strikeouts, innings pitched and four wins.  He also is currently tied with all Schoenbergs for awkward dance moves.

The thing to look forward to in the upcoming weekend is Charger Mustache Mania.  The Chargers will be sporting a new stylish look with some manly lip furniture.  Some have put more time into their mustache than their baseball skills.  They can likely be found spit on the floor drunk and riding on a '78 RV.  Local insiders have leaked information that the Charger Caravan has been tuning their vocal cords and was requested by Blackhawk to make a guest appearance at their concert during Monkey Days.
